Washington State Finance Commission Homeowner Education

Commission-Sponsored Homebuyer Education Seminars

Through local partnerships, we help homebuyers learn how to purchase and maintain a home. Seminars are free and open to the public. Seminar participants learn about the Commission's low-interest rate House Key program, down payment assistance, and a variety of other affordable housing loan programs.  Schedule of Seminars

The seminars are meant to be your first step in obtaining a home of your own. Many people find they will gain enough information at the seminar to successfully locate and finance a home of their own. Others may find they need additional assistance. If, after attending the seminar you would like additional help, contact one of the agencies listed on: Other Housing Service Providers.  Either way, you can be successful, and all the information is free.

This schedule contains a listing of all currently registered Commission-sponsored Homebuyer Education seminars. These seminars are the only program we know of which are accepted by all affordable housing loan programs as meeting or exceeding educational requirements. All of the instructors have gone through training and have agreed to standards which assure you that all seminars:

Are at least five hours in length - covering all major aspects of the home buying process;

Presented in an open, unbiased format;

Use approved training materials and handouts;

Are offered by professionals who have attended our House Key and Homebuyer Education Instructor training class; and

No direct marketing or sales presentations may be given either by the instructor or any guest speakers.

Reservations are required for all seminars. If you will be using the low-interest rate State Bond House Key program to purchase your home, you must complete the seminar before your loan officer can lock in your interest rate.

DISCLAIMER:  The sponsorship by the Commission of a homebuyer education seminar does not endorse a person, business practice, product or service other than its own.

The Schedule of Seminars is updated on this website weekly.  Contact us with questions at askusHO@wshfc.org.
